I've a 5.1 AV receiver and want to buy speakers for it. Is 2-way bass reflex speaker better than 2-way acoustic suspension, dual woofer speaker? Which is cheaper?

  1. You ask a lot it all depends on quality and what sound you like   ,

if a speaker has two mid range speakers or two high range speakers to me they sound better and if you want base a good  quality woofer on the floor is best and if you want the best.

Remember quality all ways for good sound not price.metal speakes sound better , no they are not heavy

mine are metal and brand yamaha and was buy as a complet unit

All so consider computer speakers as some of these can sound good at a a good price but need to listin to them to find the ones you like the best

  2. When it comes to speakers, nothing compares better than your ears.

Do not rely on the terminology to decide.

Find the speakers in your price range, listen to them.  Discuss buying them and 'replacing' them with the dealer before you buy.  It's funny but many times you hear speakers that sound great only to get them home and they don't sound very good.

Make sure when you buy them you match them to your amp, again the dealer should be able to ensure you get a good match.  This part is pretty trivial today.

Low-end you'll probably run into 'restocking fees' and the like, but on high end you'll probably get professional installation, which will make a big difference and replacement if they simply don't sound right.
