  1. It's not too bad. Many people with this level of eyesight would need them for driving but not much else. I have  20/200 and that's alot worse.

  2. 20/80 uncorrected vision means nothing- that is to say, if you see 20/80 without glasses, it doesn't matter- what matters is what you see WITH glasses, which may be 20/20 or better.

If your vision is 20/80 WITH glasses on, yeah, it's not too good. While possibly able to drive with the use of bioptics, you'd have difficulty reading newspaper print without bioptics, and generally experience the struggle of relatively 'minor' low vision.

  3. This simply means that a person with 20/80 vision has to be 20 feet away from an object to see what a person with normal vision can see at 80 feet.  If this is uncorrected vision, it is not too bad.  Most of the people I know who are nearsighted are worse than that uncorrected.  They just need to wear corrective lenses most of the time.

Most states require at least 20/40 vision in one eye to drive.  I consider 20/20 to be normal vision rather than perfect vision.  My sister has 20/10 vision which is better than normal.
