  1. Put up signs in grocery stores, and around other local stores, with that price and you should get a lot of calls, but make sure your not ripping yourself off. In michigan 20.00 is only 3 gallons of gas, and a big yard can burn that up in a little while. Good Luck.

  2. IT ACTUALLY DEPENDS, YOU HAVE TO BALANCE THE MONEY OUT IF THE LAWN IS BIG ITS GOING TO BE ABOUT 50 DOLLARS SO IT ACTUALLY DEPENDS AND YOU SHOULD GO DOOR TO DOOR AND ASK PEOPLE

  3. Start with people on your street.Ask a neighbor how much you should ask.

In my neighborhood young men like you charge $30.00 for a lot 50 x 150, more if you have to pick up clippings.

Alot depends where you live also.I live in North Carolina now and you get less here then in New York where my Parents live.Good Luck!

P.S. When I was your age in 1965 we got $4.00 to mow a lawn that was 100 x 100.Now my mother pays $50.00

  4. As independent contractors you will need to use all your own equipment, and the price will have to depend on the size of the lawn, how flat it is, etc.  I would say $20 is very low.  Call some professional lawn companies and ask them to come out to your house to give you an estimate.  Charge your customers about 50-75% of what the pros charge.

Also, you really need to have some kind of liability insurance in case you are injured while you're on the job.

  5. $20 is actually cheap. I would start at $25 and adjust the price based on the size of the lawn. Specify whether that includes front and back or just front. Your price should include edging and cleanup.

You could probably get a medium size front lawn done in 45 minutes if one of you edges and the other mows. I have a small lawn and it takes me 1 hour 15 minutes to mow, edge, and cheap up. (edging is the worst part)

  6. Figure charging at least $60.00 for a quarter acre lot mowing and trim.  Get an ad in the local newspaper.  Be sure to set up schedules to avoid making customers angry.

  7. Yes, as long as its in good working order.  Check Craigslist in your area .  For starting a business you may need to get knowledge on repairing mowers as they will break . Get to be friends with the local mower mechanic ,let him show you both some tips on maintenance .  Keep on eye out for people giving away their old mowers even broken ones for parts.     Post your flyers in Stores, libraries,  Craigslist , Hardware shops....  Word of mouth works good too.    Good luck
