I have a 20 Gallon tank. I plan on adding some plants. I was wondering if a 20 gallon would be good for a keyhole and maybe some tetras.

  1. Keyhole cichlids shouldn't be kept in a tank smaller than 28 gallons.

  2. 20 gal is a bit small for Keyholes.

You could keep Rams or Kribensis, and a small school of tetras though.

  3. 20 gallons is kinda small territorially for keyholes. 20 would be a good size for a single or a pair, but they will probably tear the tetras to pieces one by one in a tank under 55 gallons. Until then the tetras should be fine. I would suggest apistogrammas. They are really interesting fish! They're smaller too. You could have a pair in a 20 and the tetras would do great even during breeding! Hope i helped =]!

Here is what they look like but i would ask your pet store to try and get them before you ordered here. They are FAR less expensive than this so dont be scared by the price. lol
