  1. there is no such thing as 200 degrees, degrees only go up to 180.

these #s represent and astigmatism and you need to be more specific to get a true answer for this question.

the Rx should read +1.00-0.75x175 something like that, the first 2 sets of  #s really determine how she sees.

degrees represents the last number in this Rx (175)

the first number is a spherical # and the second #is cylindrical

if the first # is 200 then was it plus or minus

plus then she is farsighted, minus is nearsighted

if this is what you mean, then yes she does need glasses

  2. As Gina said, these numbers are hard to interpret as a prescription.

If her prescription looks like +2.00 and +1.75, she may or may not need to wear the glasses.  She would be farsighted, but many children can "overcome" their farsightedness by accommodating.  If she is having problems reading (blur, eyestrain, headaches, etc.), then these glasses would help.  If she can read just fine, then these glasses probably would not benefit her too much.

If her prescription looks like -2.00 and -1.75, she should have the glasses for distances.  She is nearsighted and it would probably be difficult for her to see the board in class if she is not close.  She would not need to wear them all the time, though, and may find it more comfortable to not wear them while reading.  Not needing to wear them all the time doesn't mean she doesn't need them, though.

Please give us some more information on her prescription for a more accurate response.  And always feel free to ask her doctor; he or she will be able to give you the best answer.

  3. Yes, anything more than 0.75 is enough to wear spects

  4. You didn't specify if she is nearsighted or farsighted- this appears to be a farsighted prescription. If your daughter is farsighted she should only wear glasses when she is doing close work; if she is nearsighted she should only wear glasses when she wants to see distance clearly- she should NEVER use them for near work as this can cause eyestrain and make your vision worse.
