Is 2040 on the SAT on the first try BAD?

i plan to take the SATs this fall

since i got a 2040 on my first one w/o studying

will this initial score stigmatize my record even if i get somewhere in 2300 on my next one?

    good job, 2300 will be hard, and since there is quite a contrast between 2000 and 2300..they might wonder what happened on your first SAT


  2. Anything above a 2000 on the SAT is excellent - congratulations! This will NOT make your record look bad, if anything, it will make your future 2300 stand out even more!

    Now while you won't get into the top colleges simply based on your score, it's still a good 'fall back' for the 'B-grade' schools. Study hard and try your hardest to get a perfect score on the SAT (or a 2300, whatever you want), and your standardized test achievement will stand out.

  3. 2300 is a reach for anyone. However, 2040 is decent!
