Hi, I'm 20yrs old from Australia and just wanted to ask is 20yrs old to late to want to become a pro golfer. I know you would hear this question alot but its just ive haven't played alot of golf in my life. Its hard to describe but ive played alot of sport and I have alot of natural talent. eg i played baseball at a young age and was asked to play in America, which I declined. Soon after I quite baseball due to personal issues and just focused on study. Now I have no career goals what so ever and sport is the only thing that feels right, I know that if I put my mind to it I will make it but I fear that I have left it to late.

  1. Dream on! If you took all the club pros and club champions in Australia, I doubt that as many as six of them would have a chance to get a Touring Card. Also, "natural talent" has nothing to do with prowess at golf.  It is entirely UNnatural and requires discipline that you don't seem to have.

  2. no, Tiger Woods is 32

  3. Probably too late.

  4. No but you have to go thru a Qualifying school and then go on mini tours and be a winner so by the time your 35 you mite have a shot at the PGA

  5. No thats actually young. Just pratice make sure all aspects of your game are prefect and try to get a tour card. Also there is the senior tour so if you where 50 or 60 it still wouldn't be late lol.

  6. there's no such thing as too late in golf..  if you have a good coach and practice the correct things everyday, there's a slight chance that you'll make it to the pros..  but you have to dedicate yourself, not only physically but also mentally.. it takes a lot of practice and hard work to be good in golf.. good luck..

  7. Nope, Angel Cabrerra (who was a PGA Tour Or Bust candidate with an elementary school-level education when he started) was 34 when he joined the PGA, and he won last year's US Open.  Boo Weekly was 31 or 32 when he broke out.  He did spend some time on the Nationwide Tour, but he's a late bloomer who's finally having the pieces fall into place.  That's only the popular ones.... I'm sure there's more like them out there.

If you can put in the effort and the LOOOOOONG hours of practice, anything is possible.  Don't ever limit yourself or sell yourself short.  And don't listen to people who want to put you down... there's a BIG difference between hurtful criticism and constructive criticism.

Has anyone seen how many Aussie's are on Tour, and how many Americans aren't?  Americans are down by two-thirds from 1988, while the number of Aussies (and all foreigners, for that matter) are on the rise.
