  1. Yes, that is a lot...I wouldn't pay a lot of money for it, and I would be cautious- definitely have a mechanic inspect it first.

Nonetheless, it may be OK.  It may just have a lot of highway miles, which cause much less wear per mile than in-town miles.  I don't know about Explorers, but some cars can last 300,000 miles or longer.  What is more important than the mileage is how well-treated and maintained the car was.  If the motor doesn't use oil, runs smooth, and has plenty of power, it may be just fine.  My friend had an old Nissan with 300,000 miles on it, and it never used any oil, and she drove it all over the country with no problems.

  2. Yes, honestly that is alot of miles on a vehicle.  If you were to buy it, it probably would not last long and then you would have to put another engine in it and depending on if you buy that new or used it could cost up to like $4,000 to $5,000.  I would look for something with less miles unless you really like the vehicle and willing to put a  new motor in it.

  3. Yes, When buying a Car I don't buy anything over 100,000 miles... anything near it is ok....but once you hit 200K BiG repairs could be on the way

  4. it is quite a lot but it shouldn't affect the way the car works just make sure it  is up to date on mots and that nothing has been a problem with it.

    hope this helps

  5. DO NOT BUY IT

You know usually most cars get 100,000 in 10 years no 212,000 in 9

  6. If you are buying a pickup truck, I think you could get a terrific deal from a regular dealer on new or next to new.   The people who rent vehicles are turning them in after the three year lease and not buying the leased truck due to gasoline inflation.  Take someone with you to the car lot, if you decide to buy from a dealer.  The '99 Explorer with 212,000 is not a winning deal for you.

  7. In the business we called the Ford the Exploder for its unfortunate history and the press that went with it, deserved or not, years ago Audi recieved credit for a woman backing over her son, because 60 Minutes said that was what happened The system on the car was mechanical and impossible to  self-engage.

The GMC Jimmy is a good sport-ute. as long as it has the later V-6. Have a mechanic check it out it will be the best money you ever wasted in your life.
