  1. 22 is definitely not the age limit. if there is one i think its around or over 30. If she wouldn't be able to compete in the next Olympics it would be because the many years of gymnastics have physically worn her out so much that she won't be able to. I hope that's no the case though!! But if she does end up competing, she won't be in the same shape she's in now so I don't know if she'll be the kind of winner she was this Olympics

  2. there is no maximum age where you can't go to the Olympics any more but as you get older you body starts to wear down so when people say she is going to be too old they mean by the time she turns 22 so won't be able the compete at the same level as she is now and so she won't be as good and might be too injured.

  3. i dont think that 22 is to old!

The International Federation of Gymnastics has a requirement of an athlete turning 16 years old in the Olympic year to compete. Figure skating has an age requirement of turning 15 by July 1 of the year before the Winter Olympics to compete. Other than that, there are no age requirements. here are the ages of the oldest people that participated- The oldest person to win an Olympic gold medal is Oscar Swahn, who captured gold in shooting at the 1912 Games when he was 64.

    most recent, 2nd oldest

Scott Baird, the alternate on the U.S. men's curling team and the oldest person to win a medal at the Olympic Winter Games at age 54,

    3rd oldest

Olympics in 1920 Patrick McDonald, New York City policeman, 42 years and 26 days old, making him the oldest person ever to win a gold medal in athletics in shot put.

so i think she should be fine competitng at age 22

  4. Most gymnasts on an Olympic level retire from the sport around age 20.  Because gymnastics is such a physically grueling sport, their bodies can't handle the competition too well for very long.  I didn't think there was an actual age cutoff, though- I just thought they retired by choice.

  5. I asked a question about this and I got the general impression that gymnasts are at their peak in their mid-teens, and stop competing in their early twenties because gymnastics is an extremely rigorous and demanding sport that requires a lot of dedication.

Also, by the looks of this article about Nastia Liukin, don't bet on her going to London in 2012. It is a possibility, but the chances seem iffy at best.

  6. I don't think there is an age limit other than the minimum age of 16 to compete.

  7. Twenty-two IS old in the gymnastics world. In four years, fresh sixteen and seventeen year olds will be ready to compete-- and like the US says, the younger the gymnast is, the more capable they are of executing a good routine.

  8. um no. there's a 31 one year old competing for germany (:

  9. 22 isn't to old to compete. You normally don't see anyone over the age of 30 (in gymnastics) but that all depends on the person and their body. There is a 33 year old mother in the 2008 olympics and she won a metal!

  10. That is ridiculous, of course sh'es not too old!  It's making her sound like she's ready to retire, her life has only just begun! :)

  11. There was a 25 year old gymnast doing floor exerices one night so I'm pretty sure she would be able to compete again.

  12. there is no limit but most gymnast can't keep up the practice schedule or just can't do what they used to be able to do or they just don't really enjoy it anymore

  13. nope..there is a 33 yr old gymnast competing for Germany and she won a medal this time. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/oly...

Oksana Chusovitina, a veteran of five Olympics who won a team gold medal as part of what was called the Unified team made up of athletes from the old Soviet Union, earned an individual silver medal Sunday when she did two sturdy vaults.

She is the mother of a 9-year-old son who is in recovery from leukemia. It is that illness that brought Chusovitina to Germany six years ago. It is because of that illness that Chusovitina competes for Germany instead of her native Uzbekistan. And gymnastics helped save her son Alisher's life.

  14. Heya!!...

I know what you mean, I've also heard that the age limit for gymnasts is quite young. She might just be able to enter London's 2012 Olympics but definately not the one after that!!...

    Hope this helps!!...

    Demi!!...

  15. Nope! I watched an interview with her and Shawn Johnson after their floor routine, and I think both of them will be competing in London.

  16. of course not and Nastia Liukin said she will be competing in the 2012 olympics in london.

  17. Nope, that Torres lady (of course not the awesome Liverpool player Fernando Torres) from the USA just won a silver medal in swimming and she was 41. It just depends on your mental and physical ability. As you get older after like 25ish you don't exactly get better at sports (for the most part) so if you can keep your form from previous years then you'd be fine. That's why most athletes retire by 40, of course some love the sport so much or need the money that they will push themselves to keep going.

    Something like that.

  18. yes she is 18, and no she won't be old. Chelsea Memmel is like 20 something, you see her competing now.

  19. Just because she is 18 doesn't mean she CAN'T compete in the next Olympics, it is just how her body will treat her. Gymnastics hurts your body a lot, and at some point, your body will tell you to stop. But, Nastia said she may or may not compete in the next Olympics. I hope she does though, she is my favorite!

If you didn't notice, at the 2008 Beijing Olympics this year, there was a 33 year old competing. So age doesn't really matter, it is how much your body can take.

  20. no cuz the early 20 are in your prime just look at phelps hes 23

  21. no        i think most people that are in the olympics are in there thirties

so i think you should be fine
