Is 24 to old to go to an acting college?

I really want to go to The New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts, but I think that I'll be the oldest one in the class.

And also do you think that acting colleges are a waste of money?

  1. I think that 24 or any age is NEVER too old to go to college. There is no price to be put on following your dream!!! I don't think that acting colleges are a waste of money if it's something that you really want. Go for it and give yourself a high five for the thought of it. Follow your dream, you only live this life once~

  2. Not necessarily.

The big "Acting School" here in Australia - the National Institute of Dramatic Arts (NIDA) - tends not to take actors straight out of school.  They prefer them with a bit of life under their belt.

NIDA  graduates have included Mel Gibson, Judy Davis, Cate Blanchett, Richard Roxborough, Hugo Weaving and Sam Worthington as well as a number of locally known people.

  3. No Way! GO FOR IT ;)

  4. Your NEVER to old to do what you want to do. I'm the oldest in my play by a couple years but it never hits me all I think of is I'm doing what i want and I'm proud of it

  5. Absolutely not. Do it while you can.

  6. EDUCATION IS NEVER A WASTE OF MONEY IF YOU LOVE IT AND ACTUALLY LEARN SOMETHING! 24 IS NOT VERY OLD AND MAYBE YOU LOOK A LOT YOUNGER - FOR INSTANCE A LOT OF THE DISNEY "HIGH SCHOOL STARS" ARE IN THEIR 20'S. SO WHAT IF YOU ARE THE OLDEST IN YOUR CLASS ( I BET HERE WILL BE PEOPLE EVEN OLDER)  YOU SHOULD DO EVERYTHING YOU CAN WHILE YOU CAN TO GAIN SKILLS TO HELP YOU WITH YOUR DREAMS! KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE EQUALS POWER AND SUCCESS!

    GO FOR IT!

    GOOD LUCK!

  7. If you feel that spending another 4 years on an acting college is worth it than go for it.

My opinion? Just search on-line for ongoing workshops and start auditioning once you feel comfortable. Try to find classes that teach a technique/method.  The best experience is the experience you gain working so i would suggest starting to audition for community theater and gain confidence. If you wait until your 28, you will miss out on  a lot of opportunities
