  1. Its more than realistic, but you really have to be dedicated, because its not easy. I've seen people lose over 40 pounds in a month. Some people will say its not healthy, but if you do it in a healthy way, it is.

See, even the most obese people's metabolism and body can eat up about 400 calories every 2-3 hours (even if you're sitting still). So, you go on a 1,600 calorie diet, eating 4 times a day, three hours apart, and 400 calories a piece, then drink water in between and run at least a mile a day. You could easily lose your 48 pounds in as little as 6 weeks, because you're eating exactly enough to keep your body healthy and satisfied, but not so much that you have any excess left over, and ALL of your working out goes towards burning excess fat.

See, you can wake up at 6-6:30, go for a jog and come back around 7:45-8 and eat breakfast, then eat every 3 hours (11, 2, and 5) and don't eat after 5. You can eat anything you want as long as you don't go over 400 calories per meal, BUT be careful of what you eat because 7 chips may be 400 calories, and you're still going to be hungry. Waking up and immediately exercising, then follow this 3 hour, 1,600 calorie program is what alot of people in the military ddo to get fit again. It doesn't just make you lose weight, but it retrains your metabolism so you can continue to live healthy after you're done with the diet.

What that; on everything that you eat, try looking at http://www.calorie-count.com/ They have EVERYTHING, you can find out how many calories are in a single pistachio there.

Plus, if you take a daily multivitamin with your breakfast, and make sure to eat foods high in dietary fiber and casein protein (protein that takes longer to digest), it will help, too.

You can even cheat on the 1,600 calorie diet JUST A LITTLE, by having about 2 ounces of nonfat cottage cheese (very high in casein protein) about 30-45 minutes before bed every night because it will slowly break up and digest overnight while you're sleeping to keep you healthy and build muscle overnight.

Final note, remember, nothing but WATER in between your meals, and don't forget to exercise every morning before eating breakfast or you won't be training your metabolism correctly.

  2. You would have to lose 2 pounds a week. I think you should extend your deadline to 36 weeks or 48 weeks. 2 pounds a week is hard. Even one pound a week is hard! Also, you can hit weight loss plateaus where you lose no weight. I don't really think it is reasonable. Instead, why not try to give yourself weekly goals so that you won't stress about making that final goal, and, frankly, weekly goals would be much less difficult. You will feel more satisfied by reaching those small goals instead of reaching one huge, difficult goal. Weekly goals could be something like 'lose one pound' or 'exercise 45 minutes everyday this week' or 'don't eat any sweets this week'. These goals will lead to good habits, so losing weight will be much easier. Good luck! Don't forget to drink a ton of water, it helps to keep you full and it flushes out the toxins and waste from your body. To make sure you're drinking enough water, check if you're pee is clear or very light yellow.
