I was coming home from work today and pulled onto my street and there was this idiot that had to be going at least 55 and in order to avoid ramming into me he ended up driving onto someone's property and onto their grass. I'm a little shaken up because there are alot of kids on my block and it just so happens that today they weren't out playing in their front yard thank goodness. My hands are still shaking. I live on a narrow street and there were cars on both side of me so I couldn't move out of the way but the other car could have easily just waited for me to pass or at least until I got out of the spot I was in to pull over so that he could pass.

  1. Most residential streets are 50 kph/30 mph... unless it is a school zone, and then the limit is 40 kph/25 mph.  Those are the universal limits unless otherwise posted.

  2. Hey! if I'm driving in an unfamiliar neighborhood , then I automatically drive at 25 miles. When you are driving, you must

be ready for anything because there are idiots that don't obey the rules and regulations of the streets.

for  example, your at the redlight and your one of the first three cars (front line). When light turn green, don't take off ----wait till all the first roll of cars stop in other street before moving.

another example, when driving down a one way street with no stop sign but other street crossing yours have stop signs.

You still have to watch---not drive blindly thinking that people

will actually stop at stop signs. what if theres a police chase

  3. No it depends on where you live, contact the department of transportation and give the location and they will be able to help........

  4. don't know the answer for your state but no 25 mph is not universal across the us

  5. If not posted, the lessor of whatever is safe or

    35 in a residential zone

    25 in a school zone

    35 in a business zone

Theoretically, 50 elsewhere if not posted, but it is usually posted as a different number

  6. In the State of New York, the speed limit for residential areas is 15 MPH, even if it's unposted.

    Commercial streets are 30MPH.

The cops aren't out doing their jobs of enforcing these speed limits, so very few people know the limits.

  7. pretty much but the towns set it. so it varies 25 seems low more like 35 in most places

  8. I'm from SE Texas, and the majority of towns here have 30MPH as the posted speed limit in residential areas.
