Question:

Is 25 too "old" to be a rookie?

I'm talking about internships, breaking out into the art/music world, maybe taking care of some missed early twenties opportunities.

I know that our society accepts people pretty liberally and the circumstances that put them where they are, but I suspect 25 is a bit old to try and break out into the adult world (fresh out the parents nest, fresh college diploma in hand) without stigma dragging that person down.

I've messed up so badly. I shied away from my friends throughout the past three years, missing every chance to go crazy and have my early twenties fun. Suddenly, everyone's settled down, finished with college (I'm a year behind!), and talking about marriage. Meanwhile, I'm a kid still living at home. I'm so ashamed.

Most well known writers and artists I've studied got their big break when they were 24. There are a few exceptions, but 25 seems like the cut-off: if you're not "with it" by this point, then something might be noticeably wrong with you.

And I know that the current trend is for mid-late twenty somethings to move back in with their parents due to the poor economy and housing crisis blah blah...but this has more to do with human biology(?) then sociology. What happens when person hit's 24/25 and they haven't sorted everything out yet?
