Is 250ml of pure fruit smoothie an adequate breakfast?

More specifically, an innocent brand fruit smoothie containing 2 portions of fruit.

Is this an adequate breakfast to see me through until lunch or not? I'm usually very short on time in the mornings.

Thanks!

  1. You need to make sure the smoothie contains a source of protein, and you should accompany it with some whole grain cereal/toast. All Bran bars are a great source of fibre, quick to grab and taste good.

Also, take into account what time you have breakfast and what time you have lunch. You should be eating 5 small meals per day. Early morning, mid morning, lunch, afternoon, and dinner.

  2. Without seeing the dietary value of the smoothie in question, it's hard to say, but no, probably not. It's not well-balanced, and you'd do better if you would include some high-fiber carbs in your quickie breakfast, like granola or whole grain toast.
