  1. Most people would say yes, and that's much older than most of the fighters out there...

But then again, look at Randy Couture.  He was unstoppable at...what, 43?

    Go for it.

  2. no,i havefriends in mma an 2 of them are ur age but started a few years early but it takes more training an dedication from how ive seen them train. an also my best friend who started when he was  16 in the trainning of mma would say pro jump in try that the ony way to find out

cuz he told me those exact same words

  3. There was an 60 year old american guy called Skip Hall who fought on one of the local fights I saw. He did a good job against a guy more than half his age. 27 is not too old

  4. No, how much fighting experience do you have, if you're a newbee to the whole fight game, it is kind of pushing the envelope.  If you are ex-military (SEAL,  Recon Marine, Ranger) than you may have a chance.  But you have to ask yourself if it's worth it.

Did you wrestle in college as many of these guys have, many of the UFC guys were nationally ranked wrestlers before going into MMA, meaning they have had years of training and experience, prior to Muay Thai, BJJ or whatever.

How did you come up with this idea ?

  5. I don't think so. But it would be a little hard for you to have a good flexibility.

    Just train very hard, mate.

  6. My brother does that, and i haven't heard of anyone that old. Those young men will tear him to shreds!

  7. I don't think it would be to old.

  8. 27 is not to old for you to win in the mma. I will give you a idea for a advantage. Go for jujitsu and muay thai sure, but also do chen style for the internal work. That way the beatings you take and all the muscles you use will not leave you a crippled old man, but still flexible and strong at the age of 65. Plus chen style teaches fajing a technique that takes a long time to master but results in you being able to control your adrenaline rushes. Saddly alot of realy good chen style vids take a month to be delivered and cost anywhere`s from 13 to 99 bucks, I know a cool place you can get them for 5 bucks and they are downloads.

  9. Not too old at all. Having a wife and 3 kids I would think would add more of a challenge than your age. I didn't start BJJ until I was 30 with no kids. Now 4 years later I have two kids, which definitely takes up a lot more of my time, but if your good with time management and have good commitments it shouldn't be an issue. What you should really do is start training, if you haven't already, then take a couple ammy fights. If you still like it, and do well then go for it. But you might do a couple of ammy fights and find that it isn't for you, in which case you tried it but didn't like it, no harm no foul. Good luck.

Edit: Don't listen to the people that are saying it's too old, or the young ones will tear you up. That's complete B.S. Age is not a factor. At first it may be, but once you build up your cardio and technique it's no longer a factor.

  10. No way,I'm older than that and compete, don't listen to these haters,do your thing. When you look in the mirror, all you can see is you. Will you look at yourself and say I could have or I did.

  11. No not at all! The determination and drive is all you really need!

If you truly have the heart and passion, there will be nothing stopping you. Good luck!

  12. There are people competing at the highest level well into their 30's and 40's. But have you done anything before? I imagine if you are totally starting from scratch it would be wise to look at a year of intense training without competitions as such. You may be looking at your 30th birthday before making money. Its a huge commitment though in terms of lifestyle and time required especially if you work full-time however you CAN do it if you want to.

  13. Yeah it is But if that is your Dream go for it dude :)

  14. If your in shape and prepared to take hard hits, then no your not too old, 27, isn't really, old 33+ is a little old for that sport but not 27

  15. starting at 27 you wont become a world champ or anything but as long as you are in pretty good shape you could get a couple amateur fights i'm sure.  i just hope you and your family understand the sacrifices involved with getting into this sport.  it's not something that can be taken lightly otherwise you could end up getting seriously injured.  my advice to you is take a couple muay thai and jiu jitsu classes, see how you like them, and then go from there.

  16. no, look at chuck liddell he is 40, Randy Couture is like 43 n he's still going strong

  17. Not at all.  Many fighters havent started until they were in their 30's.  I have been a fan of MMA since the early 90's and have friends that are involved in the sport who train with new fighters of all ages.  Just make sure you get involved in a good MMA gym and keep at it.  Its not an easy sport to jump into so dont loose faith if it takes you several years to develop.  Good luck.
