I want to get one for my dad for his b-day, he weighs about that and keeps saying he wants to get on a bike again. I'm looking at this one in particular: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4231518

But we don't see any eight specifications. Anyone know?

  1. You shouldn't buy bicycles from walmart. If you are looking for one specific for someones weight, go to your local bike shop and ask someone that works there. They will usually let you ride it around the block of something to test it out and see if it is the right fit.

  2. yep he's a homer simpson.tell him to practise on the bikes at the gym.

or get him a bike with a motor on it.

  3. For your dad's size and weight, I'd go with a regular diamond frame.  And  no, 270 pounds is not too heavy for a mountain bike.

  4. Don't get your dad that bike instead get him a hard tail bike, Those cheap dual suspension bikes eat up to much energy.  I didn't know any better and bought that same bike last year when it was $60.  I had it one day and took it back.  It rode like a pogo stick and felt like I was pedaling thru mud all the time.

  5. your dad might be too heavy for that cheap walmart bike, if he's looking in a full suspension bike then get him a nice brand bike, specialized, gt, haro, cannondale, giant, khs, trek and more. But if you are on a budget go for a hardtail bike, it would be better for his weight.

  6. The suspension on that bike is designed for someone around 160-170 pounds. Your dad is gonna have a terrible time riding that thing. Like the other guys said, get him a hardtail.

If you do buy him this one, please take pictures and post them. I'd like to see it!
