There was a 96 Plym Neon for $3,000 at a Buy Here, Pay Here lot and I was just wondering if that was a good price or a little outrageous?

  1. all Neons except the 2004 models are unreliable money pits.

    $3,000 is too much

    for $3k

    Acura CL 98

    Ford Mustang V6 98

    Toyota Corolla or Echo 98-99

    .

  2. You're better off getting an older civic or corolla for the same amount.  Whatever car you decide to buy, get it checked out by a good mechanic before you seal the deal.

  3. neons are problamatic, go for a 95 eclipse

  4. Stay away from Neon's they tend to get repairs a lot, you could probably find a Corolla, Civic, or Cavalier for around that price. I know I got 99 Cavalier for $3200

  5. I wouldn't pay 15 cents for a 96 Neon, or ANY Neon for that matter.  My mother had one and it was in the shop ALL the time.  She traded for a 99 (which was brand new) and it wasn't any better.  I've also seen what's left of them after car accidents and it's disturbing how they fall apart.

  6. Depends, has it been in an accident, whats the condition, mileage, fully loaded?  Check the kelly blue book price.  www.kbb.com

  7. In very good condition, a 96 Neon would be worth maybe $2000.  Any Buy Here, Pay Here lot is going to charge more, because they figure they are selling to people who cannot buy elsewhere, because of little cash in the pocket, poor credit, and things like that.

  8. Dealer's book value is about $400. Neons never held good resale value. Ever.

Sound like a good deal to you?

  9. NO! NO! NO!

    1. Neons are terrible cars especially 90's models.

    2. That car lot went well above the kelly blue book value, a 96 neon is probably worth 600. I sold my 99 for $900 and was happy cause I knew the car wasn't worth it.

Please find a better car. To be honest, if the car will come from a lot you need an '03 or better.

  10. how many miles are on there?

  11. Uh, no. Neons are the worst cars out there. I would not spend 3 grand on a 12 year old Neon. Maybe $500 but thats if its got low miles.

  12. No, Neons unreliable are junk. Get a Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla.
