  1. Go for a dual-core processor. Even current day operating systems take up a lot of base power. You need to make sure you've got enough power for all your onboard applications.

  2. First of all, WHAT EVER YOU DO, DON'T GET A DELL!!

3.0ghz is a good speed, but don't get P4, get dual core.

Also Intel Processors are better that AMD.

  3. Well when XP came out Pentium 4 was the cream of the crop. But now the cream of the crop is Core 2 Duo/Quad?Extreme. Now with all the cools stuff out there you need a double core base. Its not really optional anymore, you NEED dual cores. So I suggest putting the money into Core 2 Duo.

  4. No. That processor is at least 4 years out of date.

  5. Your p4 has 2 major problems:

    1. Its a single core, so its much slower than todays 3.0ghz Core 2 Duos

    2. The p4 is based on last generation's (soon to be 2 generations ago with the release of Nehalem next year) microarchitecture.

Basically it boils down to this:  The shittiest, slowest, most dirt cheap Core 2 Duo will run circles around that p4 all day long.  And next year, when those fancy new Nehalem chips come out... those cheap Core 2 Duos will be EVEN CHEAPER.

    DON'T BUY IT.
