No one on my side or my fiance's side has little girls, so we were thinking about asking our only friend with a daughter over a few months old.. and she will be just turning 3 for our wedding.. this is the only option really but I don't know if 3 is too young to be a flower girl? Do you think she would be able to know what to do?

  1. mine was 2, her mom had her practice a few days before so she knew what she was supposed to do and she did a great job!  she was so cute!! she took a handfull of those petals and threw them down alright!!  she should be fine! as long as she is not the shy type.

  2. No, that's fine...

  3. It's not too young.  Work with her every day a few weeks before the rehearsal, and she will be fine.  You may want to keep in mind that she will get bored during the ceremony, seat her parents close so she can sit with them after she walks down the aisle.

  4. As a Wedding Planner i would Vote against using a 3 year old.....they seem to get confused and afraid once the big doors open for her to walk down. Unless her father or mother is in the wedding party and will be at the other end where she can see them it will be very difficult to keep her attention. This happened is a wedding i had last weekend. The Bride had placed a relative about halfway down the aisle...the lil girl saw her and walked towards that relative...then that relative pointed to the groom...which was the flower girls uncle and said walk to him and throw the flowers....and it all worked out...They had a babysitter pull her from the end of the aisle once she made it down and then she magically reappeared after the ceremony...(i felt that would be best because any child under 4 will get restless standing or even sitting still during the whole ceremony)

    Hope this helps!

  5. I think it would be fine, make sure she is at the rehearsal.

I would also have a reserved seat for her mother in the front row in case she gets restless during the ceremony.

    Best wishes to you.

  6. If you have some time to spend with her  you could teach her what to do , get a basket and fill it with petals  have the little girl over and practise with her , she will be fine ! and aside from that she will have everyone attention because I find it so nice have and see a little girl or boy trying to fill such important task!

    Remember that practise makes perfect!

    congratulations for your big day!

  7. She's will be ok - have a great day!

  8. She should be fine, might get a little whiny, but i was this age when i was a flower girl.

I liked everyone looking at me and saying I was cute, and that's what kept my trap shut, lol.

  9. Sounds good to me.

  10. it will be wonderfull tell her what she needs to do and i hope she will be ok

    congradulations too

  11. You could wait until a little later to decide considering it sounds like it's so far off. We didn't even have a flower girl or ring bearer for our wedding. But at three you might be OK if it's a really well-behaved kid. I'd say just wait and see. You have no idea what's going to happen between now and then.

  12. It depends on the little girl.  I had a 3 year old as my ring bearer, but his mom was the maid of honour, and he walked down the aisle hanging on to his mom's hand.  When he got to the end of the aisle, he went and sat with his grandparents.

He was included in the pictures as well.

  13. Our flower girl, our niece, will just be turning 3 two weeks before our wedding. We had the same thoughts as you did in the beginning, but I think she'll be just fine. And you know, even if she makes a mistake or 2 it'll be cute because she's only 3. Guests will find it to be endearing and they'll all be "awwing." So don't worry. In the worst case scenario if she's a little shy her mom or dad can take her hand and walk down the aisle with her. I think you will be just fine. Congratulations!

  14. Depending on how the three year old listens to what you are telling her. You will have to practice with her alot.
