Is 30 or 20 gallons big?

It depends on what kind and how many fish are kept in it.  Either is actually considered on the small side, as most folks end up wanting more fish.  Pictures won't give a good idea of the size.  Check a pet store or store that has pet supplies.

if your into keeping guppies, tetras, danios, and small fish then its sufficient. if you are more a serious fish hobbyist like me then a 55 gallon would be an ideal minimum size tank.

I may be mistaken, but I think you're asking if the tank its self is large?

The answer to that is yes, my 20 gallon is 12x24x17, and you also need to remember that a 20 gallon is going to weigh around 210 pounds with the water and gravel.

But in terms of fish its quite small, you're only going to be able to house 18-20 inches of fish in it (That how long they're going to be when when they're fully grown)

yes it's big but it depends what fish your keeping in there, for a goldfish not so big you could fit in 1 or 2, for a betta sorioty very big you could get quite a few in there =]
