Is !31 IQ for a 14 year old high?

I took this IQ test just a while ago and well, i got a IQ score of 131 and was wandering what is the average 14 year old AND if that seems a bit high.

Yeah, 131 (I guess that's what you mean) is very good.

But if this was some free online test, I wouldn't trust the results. Ask a guidence counselor for a real test to see an accurate IQ and see if you're eligible for some kind of gifted program.

It's not an age thing.  131 would be well above average.  The IQ test is only a measure of things you could learn.

IQ test results generally follow a bell-shaped curve, with most of the population in the bulge in the middle. 100 is the baseline, so anything above that is good, and anything under is below average. Few people are in the extremes at either end.

IQ results can vary depending on whether you're doing an adult IQ test or one designed for your age group. E.g. if you're 14 and you took an adult test, then your IQ would probably be higher if you were taking a test for your age group.

I scored 145 on the Catell (adult) IQ test when I was about 15, way back in 1983. I've scored 150-170 in adult IQ tests since, but they were all those DIY web based things so I don't set much store by the results. All they usually prove is whether you're any good at IQ tests.

Both our kids are in gifted ed programs, studying three or four years ahead of their biological ages, so it's a topic close to my heart.

If it was one of those free online ones then the score doesnt really matter. If it was a real intelligence quotient test they should have went over your score with you. Either way here is the scale

130+ Very superior 2.2%

120-129 Superior 6.7%

110-119 High average 16.1%

90-109 Average 50%

80-89 Low average 16.1%

70-79 Borderline 6.7%

Below 70 Extremely low 2.2%

EDIT: Based on the additional information you provided, it looks like you took one of those online IQ tests which are not very accurate.

Yes it's high. I took one when i was 16, and it came out with a result of 134, and i was told it was high.

131 is high regardless to your age. Had you gotten 140, you could become a member of Mensa..

The average IQ is between 100-110

Make sure its done by a legitament institut..

I have one of a 130... I got mine tested by my uni before i could start my medical degree. I got 3 diff certificates.

Where did you get the test? If you were tested by a professional psychologist, then your score would be pretty accurate and also indicate that you are very "intelligent."

Any other form of an IQ test is very questionable. IQ tests only belong in the hands of professionals.

And remember, Intelligence is only that, which the intelligence test tests.

thats high for anyone. the national average is only 100 and depending on where you look, the cut off for genius ranges from a minimum of 140-160.

its above average my iq was 128 when I was 12 it's around 153 now and my friends was 142 when she was 14 were both 16 now

er considering you spelt "wondering" wrong and put !31 instead of 131, i'm guessing it isn't very accurate. online tests aren't correct
