  1. You can actually determine that yourself. You should know how fast you are.ACT is actually an exam that depends on pace.In my own case,i came to the U.S in May,and i took the exam in June, with only 2 weeks of study.Mine was somehow complicated because i had my high school in Nigeria, and the "reading" part of ACT is not well stressed.I still had a little above 20,and it got me admitted into chicago state university.

  2. Sounds about right.

But it all depends on who you are. I know people who studied every day for months and did terribly.

    I didn't study at all, but I still got a 30.

    It just depends.

  3. Ick, don't study for six hours a day.  That won't help you; it'll just wear you out.  Find some study guides that outline what the test covers, work on your week points, skim over what you're confident about, and mainly work on the pacing.

Granted, I don't know how well you take tests.  Some people need to study more than others, it's true.  But come on, six hours is too much and you won't be able to stick with it.  Try an hour to an hour and a half, doing full-length practice tests on Saturday mornings.

  4. Word of advice:

You really can't study for those tests.

My two friends in high school both took a semester long course to "study" for the ACT and SAT.  They did everything the teacher said, studied like crazy, bought books and self-help guides and all that stuff.

They both received slightly above average scores.  I think around 1400 for each of them (on the 2400 scale).

A friend of mine and myself didn't study at all, stayed up until two the night before (we had to be at the testing site at 6:30AM the next day), and barely had time to scrounge around my car for pencils before we took it.

I made a 1800 something and she got a 2100 or 2200.  You know what was the difference?

We didn't stress about it.  We knew we were capable students and didn't need to worry about something like a test.

It's good that you want to do well but seriously, you freak out about it and you're going to f- it up.  Just chill, go in with the attitude that you'll do amazing, and you'll do the best that you can do.

    Good luck!
