Is $34,000 too expensive for an all girls private college?

I want to go to an all girls private college but was told that this price is too expensive. It includes room (rooms are in renovated mansions), board (10,14,or 19 meals plus flex cash, and a table PC. The class sizes are small with only about 16 per class. Does this sound like it is worth the money? I will have to take out loans if I don't get it all paid because my family only gets about $15,000 per year so I want to know if I am getting into a good one. It is Chatham University in Pittsburgh, Pa. Thanks in advance.

  1. 1) Why do you want to go to an all girls school?

    2) $34,000/yr is ridiculous! Go local or go to university in Canada

  2. It does not sound like a good deal, especially if you have to take out loans. Why go to an all girls college anyway? College is about exposing yourself to as many ideas and people as possible.

  3. Apply and see what kind of financial aid they offer you. Not only would it not be worth tons of loans but you probably can't get big enough loans to cover all that if your family is low income.

This is not a top or well known women's college. Those would be: Wellesley, Smith, Mount Holyoke, Bryn Mawr, Barnard.
