Question:

Is 35 miles (one way) too far a commute to school?

I work full time and will be taking evening classes 4 days a week part time. The school is roughly 35 miles away from my full time job. Would you do it?

Other factors - I will be able to leave work early enough to get to school at night in plenty of time. I also live at home w/the parents so I have no hefty expenses.

Thanks!

  1. no it's not too far.

    it's ok in my opinion

  2. You're still looking at 280 miles per week just for back and forth to school, which is about 13-14,000 miles/yr . Add on your errands and weekend travels and it could really pile up (no pun intended) . If you're comfortable with the arrangement and can afford it, by all means, go for it . Or take a look around the campus area and see what the accommodations are like there, check with some classmates and get their take . Weigh your options, make your decision.

    All the best

  3. Seems too far for me, but depending on the circumstances it may be doable.

  4. Personally I wouldnt even drive that far for work!

Then again, I ride a bike everywhere....

  5. no as my son will be driving 85 miles one way..and thats just college..
