Question:

Is 3500 dollars for a wedding and reception and 100guests too much?

I got an estimate from a place up the road, and here's what they sent:

"We can do the catering, set up and clean up, supply all chairs with covers, tables, tents, linens, cake, flowers for house and tables, beverages (non-alcoholic) use of property for 6 hours for approx. $3500.00. If you would like beer and wine there would be an additional charge. I have enclosed our menus (you can choose buffet or hor d'euvres) and cakes. The price is based on 100 guest and includes all servers and help."

I doubt there will be 100 guests just because some family and friends have never really cared about special evens in my life or anybody elses for that matter(except theirs) so it may go down to about between 60-70 guests....

  1. For ALL of that and that gorgeous location I think $3500 is a great deal. They may go down if you talk to them about dropping the guest list but I doubt you could find a better deal anywhere else.

  2. Are you sure that price really includes everything?  I spent double that on catering for 85 alone.  That is a tremendous deal.

  3. That is SUPER CHEAP!

Does that include servers and the whole sha bang?

  4. That is a really good price!

  5. That is a great deal. I'm paying about that much but only having half the people,.

  6. I think that's a good deal, but if you are trying to make a budget, just consider that isn't all that you are going to have to pay for -- There's the dresses for you and your bridesmaids, flower girl, accessories, tuxes, extra decorations you want, photography, videography, invitations, etc.... so you're still going to have a LOT more costs besides that.

And ask them if they come down on the price if you have a guestlist of 70 people. That might save you money, but they might not decrease the price, either.

  7. Wow!!! That is an amazing deal..Our reception was going to be 8 grand and that was for just a plain, nothing crazy wedding reception..not including dj and photographer cake and all the extras!!! Take that price and run!!!

  8. THAT IS ONE h**l OF A DEAL.. YOU MIGHT NOT EVEN GET THAT MANY GUEST.. BUT THAT'S A GREAT DEAL!!!

    CONGRADS!!!!

  9. That is a great price!!!!! I doubt you will find another like it... Our reception alone was quoted anywhere between 13000 and 22000....Good luck

  10. Dang, you got a great deal.Congrats.Thats how much I might be paying and I'm only having 50 guests.

  11. i think its a good price but get a couple more estimates

are you counting me in those 60-70 guests  LOL

  12. you have such a good deal...gl, be happy

  13. that sounds like a GREAT price - especially since it includes all you mention!!  Where is this place??  I may want to get married there :)

  14. No I think that seems reasonable.  I spent a lot less, but I did not have to pay for the facilities, tables chairs or table clothes.  I bought some accent pieces, but for the most part, I got off pretty easy.  My church offers use of all their facilities at no charge.

  15. the price they are giving you includes everything, even the flowers.  It is an excellent price.  There are some specifics that are missing- what kind of flowers, and what will the centerpiece be?  One rose or daisy in a bud vase is drastically different from a whole arrangement, but both could be called "centerpieces".

The really good part about it is that they are including the set up and clean up, plus the help for serving the meal.  You will be very busy on your wedding day, and not having to think of those details is a great asset.

Also, they need to make their money to pay for their costs.  The price they gave you is for 100 people, not necessarily priced out per plate.  They may not be willing or able to come down from their price for fewer people, because they still need to pay all the people to do the work, setting up, clean up, their own rental costs, etc.  The cost to clean up afterwards is the generally same for 70 people or 100 people.  They still need to take down the tent, clean up the area, etc.

Another good thing about it, is that you are dealing with just one person and facility.  She will know what she is able to do, and will have a really good idea of what is possible for the space you have, what works and what doesn't, and how it will all work together to look great.
