Is 'Sony Vegas' good?

I want to edit my digital video recordings on my computer, but I am not sure what program to use. Is sony vegas good? Can you put subtitles on your recordings with it? Thank You.

It's a very good app, though I'd recommend the Movie Studio versions rather than the Pro one for a beginner.  Like other editors, Vegas can easily add titles (what the film's called, who operated the camera etc) but subtitles (text showing what's being said in a foreign language etc) would be very difficult.  You need specialised apps to do that.

Yes, you can create subtitles with it.  Most editing programs have this feature - even Windows Movie Maker.  

Sony Vegas comes in 3 variants.  The basic Sony Vegas will handle most common video needs as you are not trying to download AVCHD or similar video formats that require a USB connection to the camcorder.  For these types of videos, you will need to get Sony Vegas Platinum for $99
