Question:

Is 'the patriarchy' just an invention in feminist theorists' minds?

In today's society "men's rights" are subjugated to "women's rights". Yet feminists want ever more power and they see "the patriarchy" as an obstacle to their objectives.

Is '"the patriarchy" just an invention in feminist theorists' minds. It is not even appear to be a real word.

In earlier times each village had its patriarch and its matriarch, they were the elders or leading villagers, and it is from this fact that the early feminist pseudo-intellectuals derived their notions.

But if the patriarchy really existed it would surely be working in association with the Stepford Men's Association? (Meetings every Tuesday evening at 7 o'clock.)

  1. Youre not really female are you.

  2. There is actully no subjugation; however colleges will shortly make applications submitted by men easier than those by women as the enrollment on most college campuses now have more women attending higher education facilities than men.

  3. Men tend to compete against other men because they are similar in characteristics.  Women tend to be competitive with other women.

Oppression of women?  Yes there is some oppression of women.  Men expect women to defer to some of their wishes.  The cause of this is probably due to biology.  Women are physically weaker, not as good in science and math, and prone to making illogical decisions more of the time.  Men also wish to have some measure of control of those they are providing for.  In return, women receive protection, assistance, and special dispensation (such as maternity leave).

'Oppression' or whatever you want to call it is a part of living.  Just as death, taxes, and riches are distributed unequally because life's not entirely fair.

  4. Some societies today are still patriarchal, and this one was for centuries until about eighty years ago; there's no denying that. The patriarchy is only irrelevant to modern Western society. But you're focusing too much on that — something feminists are accused of roundly.

  5. When something is a norm, you don't feel the necessity to label it. Such as there was no need for the word "heterosexuality" until the g*y movement. But the absence of a term doesn't necessarily mean the absence of it in reality.

In this respect, patriarchy is not an invention in feminist theorists' mind.

    Some exemples;

If a woman gets less salary than the man who does the exact same job, patriarchy is on the move.

If in lots of countries, still we don't see many woman presidents, this is due to patriarchy.

If women is still conceived as "breeders" and they're the ones who are quitting their job in order to raise their children instead of the father, this is patriarchy.

and men doesn't need Stepford Men's Association, because the political arena, the religion, the army and all other institutions in the society is already their association.

Of course patriarchy doesn't mean that every man living in the society is enjoying freedom and total superiority over all women. There are rules on "how to be a man" also, if you're a effeminate g*y, you will be inferior in many of these domains. If you're a handicapped man, you'll again be considered as inferior...etc.

However, even though we need the feminist theories, we definitely should question these as well. For exemple I don't like some theorists who praise the motherhood of the women and claim that there will be no wars if women were in power.

I guess we just have to question more and in need of more q***r theorists in order to destructuralize the gender binary system.

  6. Nope patriarchy isn't just an invention or men wouldn't be ruling nearly every country on earth and men wouldn't be running the majority of corporations in the world. Worldwide-more women are illiterate than men are-according to the UN.

We could say that women are idiots but they do contribute their DNA towards the creation of men-so maybe the hundred year headstart men had in the US voting for other men into political office gave men an advantage politically.Duh.

US men also had a hundred year advantage going to college as few women have been admitted or allowed to attend colleges in the US-US women didn't attend college in large numbers until the 1960's. Women also couldn't apply for "all" jobs until the late 1970's when the Supreme Court finally ruled that job want ads could not be advertised by gender-previously there were "male jobs" and "female jobs". So women have only had the right to apply for the majority of jobs that exist for the last 30 years.

The only conclusion can be that men have been running the show for quite a while and like it that way-and you're one of those that want it to stay that way. You don't see anything wrong with the way society has been or is because you like it just the way it is.

  7. You are absolutely right.  There has never been a patriarchy.  Men were leaders from ability, not because they were able to pass laws to keep women from having power and the radical feminists state.  I can tell that you are really a woman-hater.  So am I.  I heard there were a lot of g*y woman-haters in this section.  E-mail me, and I will get you into some chat rooms and send you some free hot man on man p**n!!!
