  1. More RAM is always better, however Windows will only address so much of it at any given time so after 2GB's you don't see much improvement in performance.

  2. More is better, so 3 GB is better than 1 GB...

  3. 3GB is adequate for most home users that have Microsoft Windows Vista installed.  If you have an older Microsoft operating system version, 3GB is actually fairly high (except on the server platforms).

    ** Edit **

Wiz - Have you tried playing any modern games on Vista?  2GB doesn't work very well.  Don't get me wrong, it will work, its just that you are likely to hit the page file (slowing down system performance).

Chris M - World of Warcraft takes about 800MB of RAM by itself.  Add a few mods and the game alone is close to 1GB of RAM.  You'll still need memory for the OS, so 1GB of RAM total in a gaming system is not enough unless you are willing to let some operations go to the page file (and take the performance hit).

Technically speaking, none of the Microsoft operating system require 3GB of RAM for minimum requirements.  As others pointed out, having more RAM is generally desirable.

    ** Edit 2 **

Not sure why G24k was marked with a thumbs down.  His answer is technically correct in that not all of the 4GB memory installed in a 32 bit Windows OS can be accessed.  The BIOS reserves approximately 750 MB of RAM (so it generally leaves you 3.25GB available to the OS) addresses for PCI hardware on the system.

  4. Yes its good enough, specially if you use windows vista 32 bit as it can only read RAM not more than 3.5gb or max of 4gb, so its good enough.

  5. Yes, it is nice

  6. Yes that is good

  7. yeah its fine  if  you use vista or  xp  more is always better  so  3 gig is  fine  vista loves to wallow in  ram and xp  likes  it as well

  8. Good for what?  For an older machine running Win98 or WinXP it is probably overkill.  Windows Vista runs very well on 2 GB so 3 is really good or overkill there too.  It all depends on what you are doing with it and on what machine.

  9. yea its really good you only need 1 gb of ram for most games today

  10. The maximum on x86 systems is around 3gb, but if you later get vista its always nice to have more ram.

    Ok my Friend.
