  1. 4 isn't a lot

  2. 4 cavities is less than the number of cavities that the average person has. This of course doesn't mean that you are allowed to have some more, so you must brush, floss and reduce your sugar intake :-)

  3. no 4 cavities are not alot. idk whay average is but altogether in my life ive had about 7 or 8 cavities..but they were all on my baby teeth.

  4. Hi,

No, 4 cavities is not a whole lot. However, for a person who is developing cavities for the first time, even 1 cavity is way too many !! I am sure you would like to minimize the risks. Therefore, do the following :

    1. Try to brush right after every meal

    2. Avoid snacking between the meals

    3. Drink plenty of water throughout the day

    4. Avoid too much cream and sugar in coffee. Also, try to limit the intake of things that tend to stay stuck to the teeth. If you have to brush and floss one more time after that.

    5. Remember, any soda (regular or diet), including seltzer water will cause cavities. In fact, any drink that causes effervescence can cause chemical erosion of teeth.

    6. If you have adult teeth, those are not as spaced as the baby teeth. Therefore, just brushing your teeth will not be enough. You have to floss to clean the surfaces that touch each other. Otherwise, you will get cavities in between. Remember, for each space where food stays stuch, you will get 2 cavities because of the teeth that are resting on each other.

    7. The food particle itself doesn't cause cavities, it is the acid that is produced afterwards that causes cavities. That is why drinking soda is worse than having candy. You just end up bathing your teeth in acid. That is why you should not let the orange juice (citric acid), vinegar (acetic acid) or even milk (lactic acid) sit in your mouth for long. Always chase those with water.

    8. Drink plenty of water throughout the day. Remember, neutralize the acid as much as you can !!

    9. One more thing, when you fall asleep all the body functions come to a rest. Therefore, the amount of saliva in your mouth gets diminished. As a result you do not have the normal washing effect in your mouth. So, you CANNOT afford to forget to brush before going to bed !!

    but 4 isn't a lot.

  6. I didn't have any cavities until I was 20 years old and then I got six at one time! I would say based on my experience that 4 is not a lot.
