Im flying in from Rome to Madrid and then Flying out of Madrid to Marrakesh. I don't plan on checking any baggage and im assuming that I won't have to go through customs or immagration because its just a layover. Has anybody done this before?

  1. 40 minutes assuming no delay, no check-in bags, no custom/immigration..

Yes, just do it, run fast as the gate may close in 30 minutes. I haven't done that in Madrid, but i've done it in LAX airport with transfer from international to domestic and vice versa in 50 minutes

  2. You are flying from Rome to Madrid and Madrid to Casablanca (Moroco) - You will be travelling on Iberia I think.

According to my reservation system informations:

The minimum connecting time required in Madrid is

From Domestic to International Flight: 1 Hour

So 40 minutes are not enough. However its not impossible too. But it is recommend to change your flight to avoid any kind of baggage mishandeling etc.

  3. As you have no luggage to worry about, the layover time isn't an issue.

Also, as you are "in transit", you won't be required to go through Customs or Immigration, therefore the time is still not an issue.

HOWEVER, this is all dependent on your flights being on time.  If your in bound flight is delayed, you are probably going to miss your connection; as most airline's check-in closes 30-minutes before departure.  In which case, if your flight is 10-minutes late, you're not going to make your flight to Marrakesh.  I'd suggest you catch an earlier flight out of Rome, or a later flight out of Madrid.  Otherwise, you may be stranded at the airport overnight.

    Happy flights.

  4. It really depends  how far apart your next departure gate is from your arrival gate..and if you are at an airport where you have to make a terminal change..and also if your originating flight is on time to your connection city.

  5. 40 min is cutting it close. Just make sure you get off the plane as fast as you can, get through customs fast and run to your gate. got questions? ask the employees there.

Tip: go to the bathroom before the plane lands so you wont have to find one in the terminal.
