Is 43 miles to the gallon on motorway good.?

I was doing about 80mph average.

In a Vectra sri 130dti.

  1. be grateful i get about 17mpg around town and about 22mpg on the motorway.


  2. Consider it fairly good, it would increase by dropping the speed close to the limit.

    The average fuel economy in the US is approx. 24 mpg.

  3. Thats about average.One way to increase your mileage to the gallon is to ensure your tyres are at the correct pressure.

  4. For a Diesel, not really. I get about 40mpg from my 2 litre petrol Alfa at that speed.

  8. try cutting your speed and see the difference. Im hitting around 63mpg 1.6HDI. I assume yours is 1.9

  9. I'd say pretty good as if you drive at the recommended 70mph then the fuel econonmy would improve....but I doubt by much!!!..Anyways it's a lot better than my motor...!!
