Is 43 miles to the gallon on motorway good.?

Question

I was doing about 80mph average.

In a Vectra sri 130dti.

Consider it fairly good, it would increase by dropping the speed close to the limit.

The average fuel economy in the US is approx. 24 mpg.

For a Diesel, not really. I get about 40mpg from my 2 litre petrol Alfa at that speed.

try cutting your speed and see the difference. Im hitting around 63mpg 1.6HDI. I assume yours is 1.9

I'd say pretty good as if you drive at the recommended 70mph then the fuel econonmy would improve....but I doubt by much!!!..Anyways it's a lot better than my motor...!!
