I babysat for 4 hours, from 7:30 til 12, for 3 days. The kids ages are 5 and 7. Plus, they are very hyper and dont listen at all. I got payed $45.00 for the three days. Do you think thats enough?

  1. for 3 days: no

    here's the math:

    $45 / 3 days = $15 per day

    $15 / 4 hours per day = $3.75 an hour

$3.75 an hour is way less than minimum wage, which i think is way unfair.

  2. $4.00 per hour for the first kid and $1.50 more per hour for each additional child.

Ask the mother for directions on what she does when the kids don't listen and let her guide you on how to manange them.

  3. Yes you where way under payed. Did you talk about price when they asked  you to babysit?  If they ask you again and you don't mind babysitting for these kids then you must discuss an hourly rate before you set foot in the door. this is done easiest over the phone. Have your price in mind before you have the conversation. Good Luck this is a good lesson learned never accept a job with out knowing what you will be payed. Sorry you got gypped this time, don't ever let it happen again. Your time is worth more than that.

  4. If it was $45 each time, then I don't see the big deal.

$45 for all the times put together: Don't babysit for that couple anymore.

  5. Nope!  Three kids for 13 hours?  That's not even $4 an hour.  I wouldn't encourage you to argue or take any action, though.  The best way you can respond is to just not babysit for the couple any longer.  $45 for one day would have been appropriate, but for three days?
