  1. I'd say it mostly depends on what your starting point is. If you're already relatively limber then 5 weeks of good stretching everyday might get you somewhere but if you've got the splits of the average Varsity quarterback I'm not sure 5 weeks is enough.

Same thing with the turns it depends on what you're starting with. I believe there can be some improvement but you have to be seriously dedicated and disciplined as old habits die hard. I've been dancing for 17+yrs and there are still some habits that are tough for me to quit. With that in mind I also don't have my center split all the way down because some people just don't bend that way.

Flexibility is very helpful for battements, leaps etc. but only if you know how to control it. I've seen too many "Gumbies" get hurt because they can't control their flexibility.  You have to have the strength to go with it in order for it to work to your advantage.

Hope this helped. Basically, don't give up hope on the flexibility and turns but have realistic expectations.

  2. 5 weeks is definitely enough time to get more flexible, but whether it's enough time to get your splits down depends on you.

    a) What's your starting point? That really is the key question

    b) Have you been stretching regularly already? I find that flexibility snowballs (to some extent). If you've already been stretching regularly your muscles are more likely to get more flexible more quickly.

    c) What's your body like? Some people struggle for years to.get their middle splits and never do. Their bodies just aren't built for it.

    Here are my suggestions:

    - Be gentle with your body. If you stretch too much and when you're not warm enough your muscles can freak out and stiffen up. That's happened to me way too much. You have to back off of stretching for a while and coax them back. So, make sure you're always warm and that there's only a certain amount of stretching per day that does any good.

-Actively stretch. Try different ways of stretching than the traditional splits stretches. Using your muscles coaxes them into loosening up.

  3. eat healthy in the morning if you don't already like eat fruits and granola. That always helps me. Stretch in the morning and at night. Get a little farther at your stretching with the splits.

If you practice relaveves than you'll be better at your pirouettes and make sure to keep your back straight and leg straight.

    Good luck!!!!!!!!!!
