On the label for electronic appliances, there is usually mentioned frequency rating for the power supply. Some use "50-60 Hz", others use "50/60 Hz". Are they actually the same?

  1. Yes that labels are the same.  the appliance can be plugged into either a 50 hz or 60 hz line for the rated voltage.  e.g. in Japan 120v 50/60 hz appliances will run when connected to either supply as both as used in country.

  2. your appliance when labelled 50/60 Hz, it means it can operate on either frequency. But, if your appliance has a rotating device, it could run faster at 60 hertz.

  3. yes, they have the same meaning.

    .

  4. Generally yes they are the same because the frequency will be either 50 or 60 hz. Theoretically it could be argued that the 50-60hz means anywhere between and the 50/60hz is either but not necessarily between.

The later would normally have the voltage in the same format meaning 120v@60hz or 240@50hz. This is important in some appliances especially things with induction motors in them.

  5. yes

  6. No 50Hz frequency is different from 60Hz. Your device if it states 50/60Hz has some tolerance that it can deal with either. Normally 50Hz devices are used in UK at 240V and 60Hz devices are used in US at 110V. Since your question is just on frequency 50/60Hz means it should work just fine.
