Is 50 dollars too much for a babie spiny soft shell turtle?

  1. Be careful where you get him. Turtles are often sold in poor condition and die easily without the proper care.


  2. You didn't say if it's from a pet shop or an online store. Stores might charge anywhere from $20-$50. Online stores will charge the lower number, but the charge for next day live delivery can be $50! Shop around in your hometown and see if you can get a better price. Some stores guarantee the health of the turtle for a specific time, say, 30 or 90 days. That guarantee is worth paying extra for. Try to determine if the turtle is captive bred or wild caught. Captive bred is much better for many reasons. These beautiful turtles grow very big, but over many years.
