Is $50 per person for an open bar party too much?

i am having an after work party at a club and they are charging me 31.00 per person for an open bar for 4 hours?

Depends on your guests.  I can easily put down $31 worth of booze iin 4 hours, especially if they have top shelf booze available.

If you're having a bunch of waif-like women to the party that dont drink much, then you'd do better with a few pitchers of margaritas.  If its a beer drinking softball team, they might be able to kill a keg in 4 hours which would be a lot mroe than $31 a person.  It all depends on your crowd.

Depends on what drinks you order.I normally order a Long Island Tea.It's around 7.50.I don't drink three of them.So yes it's a bit much.My hubby drinks beer and it tends to be a bit cheaper he will have 2 or 3.You also have to worry when you host this the responsiblity of people driving home drunk.That's a worry Plus chilis does two for one on drinks if you have one of those around..!!

I would let them purchase what they want ..it's going to be rare I believe for people to spend 30 dollars per person on drinking.

31.00 is a decent price. 50$ is pretty steep though. Are you pocketing the other 19$/person? If so shame on you.

Depending on what type of alcohol is included (well or premium), $31.00 is about right but $50 is too much.

50 is too much but 31 is ok.. depends on the type of liquor too. (top shelf or rail)

50 seems like a little bit too much.  If they are charging you $31, why are you taking $19 off the top for yourself for a party for co worker?  Typical drink at a club cost like $7-10.  For open bar, thet would mean people would have to buy at least 5-7 drinks to break even.  For an after work party for someone to drink 5-7 drink is a lot I would think.  I wouldnt pay that much even for open bar.  Rather take my $50 and buy a bottle of patron.  Last me a lot longer.

31 bucks is a good deal think what your average bar tab is per person....but fifty would be too high yes.
