Is $ 55,000 a good enough income for a young couple starting out in WV?

For WV, YES.  Thats about 27 a peice. My parents only make about 40 a peice.  They both work for the state and have been in their jobs for 20+ years.

Most people starting out even in professional jobs are only getting about 20-22.

Renting an apt and furnishing. Yes.

If your expenses are modest and lifestyle reasonable, yes, it's a good income.  What's more important is you try to save as much as you can and then some.  That will go a long way in th long run./
