Hemlington where?  Middlesborough, UK?

If yes, go to your local library.  Ask to look at their old Ordnance Survey (OS) maps going back over the last 100+ years. They bring out new editions every 20 years or so.  If they don't have them, they can tell you who does.  They may have other maps that go back earlier than that.

Compare what was there 100 years or more ago with what's there now.  Graveyards will be marked on all these maps - That should answer your question fairly quickly.

If you find you're house is within an old graveyard, don't panic.  If you haven't had any paranormal stuff happening in the past, there's no reason why it should start now.  The area may have been deconsecrated and the bodies removed.  This is another question for the local library / local history centre / museum, if you're really concerned.
