Is 5w30 motor oil ok for my car

I bought the wrong oil for my car it usually takes 10w 30. its a saturn sl2 with over a hundred thousand miles. its a 1993. 1.9 liter engine. i just want to make sure i didnt jack it up by putting the wrong oil in.

  1. 5w30 will do just fine


  2. Since your car has doen this mileage I think the oil you have bought might be a bit thin for it.

    It might be OK but to be on safe side take it back & exchange it.

  3. Yeah 5w30 is not a big difference from 10w30, your auto will be fine. The weight and temperature is not so different, so just replace it with the regular 10w30 next time you change it and you'll see there wasn't really a difference.

  4. you didnt jack it up. but just next time put 10w 30
