Is 6 days enough in Italy for a honeymoon?

Question

Planning on going in July, and we only have 6 days to spare. is 3 nights rome, 2 nights venice enough?

And any recommendations for where we should stay and what we should do?

i'd think it's too short.

i particularly liked the statue of David, in Florence.

but that was 25 years ago, and it's probably behind a bullet proof wall today, unfortunately.  :-(

you should also consider that 3 nights and 2 nights means that you actually get 2 days in Rome, and 1 in Venice.

those "traveling days" that they talk about are a rip-off, you rarely, if ever, get any useful time.

and 3 days in Italy is really short.

If you can afford it spend more time in Italy, there is so much to see & it is your honeymoon, you need to take time to enjoy each other in a very romantic country.  Take olivia74o's advise. Congrats on your upcoming wedding.

I spent 10 days in Italy, and it's never going to be "enough"! Italy is such a beautiful country with incredible art and museums and shopping and sightseeing. (Oh, did I mention great food?)

In Rome, be sure to see the Sistine Chapel & the Vatican, Trevi Fountain, the Spanish Steps (great shopping nearby), and the Colliseum.

In Venice, see St. Mark's and the Ponte di Rialto (Rialto Bridge), then wander and get lost for as long as you can and take an ultra-touristy gondola ride, just for the romance of it!

What a rush job-stay at the very least ten days. Just the flying back and forth is such an ordeal for only five nights.

I don't think it's enough time ... It would be better to extend a couple of days more to enjoy your honeymoon ....

For your honemoon you'll never get enough days!  :-)

If 6 days is what you have I would suggest to use it all in Rome.

You could take some daytrips to the nearby towns as Frascati e.g

(It's a very romantic place...).

Well, 6 days are not at all enough to visit both.

You should concentrate and visit only one town but I consider 6 days are not enough for Rome and too many for Venice.

I don't know which are yr specific interests but if I were you I would consider to spend these 6 days staying in Florence and taking this opportunity to visit other sites of Tuscany in the neighborhoods. I guess that you'll have further opportunities to come back to Italy after this first trip and if in future you extend the lasting of yr visit then it will be yr time to visit Rome, Venice, Naples,etc.

I'm not a travel agent. Mine it's a disinterested suggestion cause I know very well the whole Italian territory being Italian native ad resident. However if you click on my profile you'll find a lot of my answers concerning Italy and I feel you'll find further useful information that I cannot put any time in my responses.

PS - I've an information for a previous answerer (Linlyons) who was wondering where is now the David; don't worry, itsn't hided beyond a wall, it's still at Accademia museum in Florence and a lot of people are visiting it daily (except on monday when the museums are closed)

I don't think it's enough time... You should stay at least 5 or 6 days in Rome, 2 days in Venice, 3 days in Florence. It would be nice if you were able to go to Costiera Amalfitana and then to North Sardinia too. There are too many things to see in Italy, it's a wonderful country!
