  1. Carpool?  Transit van?   It depends on rideshare and the payrate.

  2. That's pretty ridiculous.  Unless this is a super-great job that you are desperate for, I wouldn't do it.

  3. Way too far unless you're pulling in at least $150,000 a year and driving a car that runs on natural gas (methane). Or going to work only twice a week. Even so, isn't your time at home worth something? I guess I wouldn't do it. (I DO drive a car that runs on natural gas, however. $10 to fill up speaks volumes...

  4. The current IRS mileage reimbursement rate is 58.5 cents per mile.  That would mean $70.20 per day if you were to be reimbursed by a job for mileage on your vehicle.  This is calculated based not only on fuels costs, but vehicle wear and tear, depreciation, and the expenses of owning and operating a vehicle per mile.  It is a figure designed to represent the "real cost of owning and operating a vehicle."

For me personally, that would be WAY too far.  I refuse to spend more than 15 minutes one way for a commute.

  5. Depends on how much you are being paid and if traffic jams (ie wasted time) are regular.

  6. it would be if you was making 20 to 25 bucks a hour

  7. depends if they pay well then its worth it and if you have an economical car

  8. yes I'm debating on the same subject the local job market here is bad but 30 miles away and there's plenty but i could find something local but it pays less then if i drive... what i discovered is that it ended up being the same... since once you equate gas and the maintenance that the vehicle requires would be close to equal making it less appealing... so take it all into consideration time, tires , gas , oil changes and other maintenance so unless the difference is very significant or better than maybe go for it or try to move closer to the job making it better
