  1. for a while then you would need to go with a 40 gallon breeder or 55 gallon tank for when it's an adult.

  2. Large lizards really need their own room.  I'm not kidding.  We do rescue.  Our Iguana area is 10 ft high x 10 ft wide x 4 ft wide.  There is a branch hanging near the UV light and the guy is very happy.  It was a very simple to do.  We made a glass wall 4 ft out from the wall of our office.  Then added what he needed.  He is ill (has been since we got him) and will never reach full size.  When he is no longer alive, we will take in 2 beardies  for that room.  Large lizards really need more than a cage, and they need a lot of out time to really give them the best care possible.  They need warm and cool spots and if you really want them happy, a small pool with filtration to bathe in is nice.  That is our next addition and I believe an important one.  If you are going to keep exotics, my take on the matter is don't just give them good enough or adequate.  Give them the best you can.  Cutting a room in your house back by 3-5 feet and giving them a nice enclosure is really no big deal for an animal that you love.
