Is 600 watts a little too much for a jl 12w6 or 10w7?

I am wanting to run either one of these subs by the amp a already own which is a kenwood 600 watt mono. The jl company says that both of these subs thermal around 600 watts which is just almost too much for them. I dont want to spend the extra money to get something a little weaker amp to power either sub. Any suggestions?

  1. yeah, according to their charts 600 watts is roght at the danger zone for those 2 subs. So, unless you want a burned up voice coil and a voided warranty, then you're going to have to choose another sub or amp.The amp should be perfect for two 12w6's, but too much for 1. Also, the 12w7 operates great on 600 watts. If you can have a 12w6, why not a 12w7??

  2. I think it would be perfectly fine. Great actually!

The Kenwood is definately not too big for the 10w7. I have a JL 500/1, and it pushes hard. The birth sheet is 600+. I've ran one 12w7 and it didn't come close to pushing it too hard.

The 600 Kenwood is slightly overrated for the most part. And you also don't always have to crank the amp up all the way. Adjust it to the sub in the case that it actually was too big.
