I havn/t driven for many years, I took the drivers test many years ago and did not pass. Lately due to many changes in my life. I feel I would be much happier if I could drive. I decided to take some driving lessons and try again. I am in good health and take no medications. Many think I should go for it. What should I do?

  1. You only live once.  I would take the driving lessons and see how you feel about it.  Provided your health is good, and you say it is, and you can see to drive then there is no reason why you should not try.  My grandmother never drove and it hampered her autonomy.  I think she was sorry she never learned so go for it!

  2. My mother has a friend who got her licence at 70, after her husband was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and couldn't drive any more.  She did fine - and because she is careful, more than a decade later she was still behind the wheel.

She doesn't tackle the city at rush hour, but then, who can blame her?

  3. No you are never too old to drive as long as you understand the rules of the road I say that you should go for it, good luck.

  4. Age should not be the main factor used to determine whether someone should be allowed to drive, in fact I don't think it should be considered at all.  If you are physically, mentally and visually sound then you should absolutely be permitted to drive.  I'd much rather see an attentive 90 year old driving then an 18 year old talking on the cell phone...  Good luck!  Hope you get your license.

  5. Go for it.
