Is 65K enough for living in San Jose - Bay Area?

Got an offer as an mechanical design engineer(with 4 years of expereinces in design field) for San Jose bay area for 65K, is it a resonable price offer?

  1. For 4 years experience, you can make more than 65K in the bay area. I'm in Southern California and I'm already making that much here. The cost of living is much higher in the bay area so you should get paid more than here.  

    My buddy works for AMD in Santa Clara for 3 years as an EE and he's making over 80K.

    Before AMD took over, he was making over 100K with bonuses and stock options at ATI.

    See if you can get better offer from them.. maybe around 75K to start.

    BTW, 65K is still enough to live in the bay area. You won't be able to buy a house but you can get a decent apartment ($1500/mo or so)
