  1. No way you could survive with RM700 a month in Kuala Lumpur..unless your boss is relocating you to somewhere in a very remote area!

i give you simple basic calculation monthly expenses~

Meal- One simple meal would cost you RM5.00... x 3 meals a day =RM15..say averagely you would use RM20.00 a day ..a month will be RM600.00..

with RM100 as your balance...how about Transport? Entertainment? Saving?? Medical??...i doubt RM100 can give you all that!

sorry darling, but you wont be saving a thing with that much of pay..

    edit:

aww..RM7k would be just fine if you are single coz if you have family living along in KL..that could be a little difficult coz you might have to think about your kids school fees, med, entertainment, your wife expenses (if she's not working..)etc..

but if you are single..RM7k can get you to live comfortably..you might just have to think about your mode of transport, daily meals & extra expenses like entertainment & etc..maybe you could refer to the following expenses in a month..

    car- RM1k

    petrol - RM800+-

    meals - RM700+-

entertainment on alternate weekends - RM 500.00+-

    gym- RM300.00

    medical (who knows)- RM150+-

utility bills (just incase if its not included into the house allowance)- RM200+-

perhaps you could spend another RM1350 into shopping and spend on your darling..ehehehe

and wallah ..the balance of RM2k you could save it for whatever means.

  2. 7000 MYR is equivalent to 1000 Euro. In Europe, people have to earn at least 2000 Euro per month for minimum survival comfort. That also in a small city. Hence, for a big city like KL, income has tobe at least 10000 MYR to live in small comfort and some savings.

    Basic Pay :   MYR 7000

Food          :   MYR 900.00 avg for three simple meals daily

                           for a month

    Hygiene    :   MYR 200.00 avg

Petrol          :   MYR 800 avg if you travel in your job with a

                           car

Clothing      : at least MYR 1500 for  the first month. Get some decent and durable yet stylish so that you can wear it over again and mix and match without appearing like run of mill.

Entertainment and shopping : MYR 700 if you shop once in a fort night.

Eat and live healthy so that you dont incur too much medical fees.

End of the month, you will have at least MYR3000 gross in hand.  If you are being frugal, you could save more than 3 grands.

  3. Im a student here, spend a lot on entertainment and stuff, and for me, not including housing, or a car with gas cause i dont have that, i spend about 1200 rm per month and live pretty d**n comfortably. i think though, if you have kids, you need to get a school allowance too. their school fees will destroy that 7000 pretty fast.

  4. Yes, that's fine if you do not splurge on anything.

But my guess is that for an expatriate, that is a trifle too low?

Perhaps, it depends on your experience and qualification and what nots.......or even depends on the company itself.

You can still save since you are receiving house allowance :-)

  5. you can save about RM 3500 + p/m. if you don't " play Play " but will good life and enjoys here !

  6. With accommodation paid for, sounds fine. The average Malaysian salary is RM 3000.

  7. its ok.. for normal living standard
