Ok, I am having my attorneys sue my former college for Employment Discrimination based on disability and religion. I currently have a case with the EEOC Office right now and it is in investigation. I am only allowed to communicate with the president of the college because the president told me so. Earlier this year I sent him my cover sheet and my resume for several positions that the college was hiring for and which I qualified for. A few months ago the president contacted me and he told me that he was not going to hire me for any positions that I qualfied for because I am disabled and what religion I am. He also told me that he was not going to hire me because I had filed previous complaint with the Federal Civil Rights Office which he and the college had to sign a Resolution Agreement after the Civil Rights Office came to the college and found that he and the college had retaliated against me while I was a student there.

The president know how much that I want to be employed at that college and his refusal to hire me for the above reasons is uncalled for.

It not only violates my protected civil rights as a disabled person but of my religious rights. It also violates my protected civil rights because he is still retaliating against me.

This is caused me great undue stress, extreme anxiety, extreme depression, future pay, employment at the college, humilitation, enjoyment of career opportunity, and etc.

I like to know is $750,000 plus attorney fees is too much to sue for if you think that it is than should I sue for $350,000 plus attorney fees, or $500,000 plus attorney fees.

  1. Thats a hard question to ask...... in my opinion, you should aim for $750,00 and try to settle anywhere between $500,00 and $750,000. Your lawyer should be able to give you a better idea on what is an appropriate number to sue for. I was discriminated against for having a disability but I never sued, sometimes i wish i would have because of how much it hurt me!

    Good Luck!!

  2. Is the job something you can't perform effectively because of your disability?  If so, you don't have a case and you shouldn't even pursue it.  If not, it seems crazy to me that a university president told you that.  Are you sure you didn't misunderstand him?  Where did you come up with the terms "great undue stress", "extreme anxiety", and "extreme depression"?  Are these your own words?  Don't assume that you have a case simply because your hack plaintiff's attorney is willing to take it.

That said, the amount does seem kind of high.

  3. I think you should hire a lawyer and sue for what they recommend suing for.

  4. yes

  5. your question isn't fair to asks no one but you can determine how much you have severed except you so if you think 750,000 then go with that figure. good luck

  6. The sky's the limit. please be specific on how they discriminated on you? What was it for?

if I was you I would do what my lawyer says best. You have good reasons. 750 g's is on point. Id aim for that and maybe more. IF THEY REALLY DID DISCRIMINATE AGAINST YOU.

  7. unless you can prove that 750k worth of damage has occurred you will never see an amount even close to that. good luck though.

ps... in my town a under aged girl was strip searched and raped by her managers a McDonald's. she sued and only got about 1 million i believe. that should give you some perspective on how much you will get.

  8. all things aside, the more realistic your suit claim is,the more serious a judge Will take it. people sue people all the time for the classic "million bucks",but these suits seldom go anywhere.I wish you luck anyway.

  9. Hope you get something as all your suits will get all future employment doors shut in your face before you get inside. One suit as a student, another suit because you don't get hired. Maybe the college should take a hint from a local restaurant which got sued by a disabled customer. Instead of paying a half million in federal court they shut down. Eight months later they reopened with larger doors to the bathroom.
