  1. you need a LIFETIME of training.

  2. It all depends on how hard you try, and how much you want it. Also, how much you are willing to give to get there.

  3. If you are good, yes probably.

If you aren't good, then no amount of training will get you there.

  4. if you have natural talent and work really hard, yes.

  5. If you started out with natural talent and practiced every day, then yes.

If you started out with natural talent and practiced every week, then maybe.

If you started out with natural talent and practiced every month, probably no unless you started out reallyyy good.

If you started out with natural talent and practiced every year, no.

If you were horrible at swimming at first I think you should wait 4 more years.

  6. you must be good enough in that sport, other wise you must be a fish

  7. Most likely not.  You need to not focus on trying to come up with some magic number.

People who know nothing about sports, music or doing something passionately have ignorantly been saying "he trains 5 1/2 hours a day that's why he won".

That is utter BS.  I know musicians who play 12 hours a day and still don't make money out of it.

EVERY One of those Olympians trained for 5 hours a day, a little more a little less in some cases.  Phelps victories were not a result of how much he practiced but a result of desire, heart, and genetics.  Most likely you will train that hard and never get to the Olympics.....if you do get there you are that much better than all of those other people who did train that hard.

5 hours a day for 8 years really isn't that much to dedicate if you really want something.  If you want to be the next Paganini .....try 12 hours a day for a lifetime.  Nothing is guaranteed....do it because you love to do it.

  8. It would suffice if you have the talent and are young enough.

Most  have been swimming longer than that though.

Remember, someone 4'10 inches who as been training all their live probably wont' make the Olympics.

body type and good genes is important.
