  1. that's about average miles for a car of that age to have on it i have seen them with less, but you can expect to may be later on have some problems from it like any other car made, the worst problem you may encounter with it,will be on the transmission they did give a few problems other than that they held up pretty good, have it checked really good before you buy it,a good mechanic may be able to spot something that coud be going to cause problems with it,other than that you may want to look at another vehicle usually telling someone they may have transmission problems will sometimes scare them away from a vehicle, but if its going to give any major problems it will be doing it real soon, good luck with it.

  2. My mom is the original owner of a 1997 Chrysler Town & Country that currently has over 153k miles. I drove it when it had less than 150 miles on the odometer, and I can truthfully say it's been the best car we've ever had. Sometimes the windshield wipers would sweep across the window, or the interior lights would change from bright to dim, and vice-versa, but that's it. The thing that's really amazing is that it hasn't even started to fall apart: the power windows and door latches work just as good as when they were brand new, and there isn't even any excessive wind noise, because the weatherstripping has somehow not dried up and cracked (fairly common in So. Cal.) The AC has been pretty weak lately, but that's about it. The transmission is original and still works great, and the engine even gets over 30mpg on the freeway, and it's the 3.8. Longevity of cars depends on many factors; our particular Chrysler has been outstanding!

  3. The general rule of thumb is that a car should only have 12000-15000 a year put on it a max to retain its proper value. I would say it is too much mileage and it will start requiring a lot of maintenance for a 2004 car. Ive also noticed chryslers do require a lot of maintenance one way or another so i would have to recommend no on this one. Im willing to bet that is why he is getting rid of it, due to the thing you are worried about, lots of maintenance

  4. As long as you take care of the car, it will work fine. things only go wrong with it beucase people wait for oil changes and c**p. my ocusin had his dodge neon for atleast 15-10 years and it just recelty broke down with prob over 180,000 miles.

  5. I wouldn't buy a car with over 50K ever. Not even a Honda and they are known to last FOREVER. There are just too many things that can go wrong and you don't have a warranty to cover them. It is much better to buy something with low miles and get a warranty so you are covered.

Also, Cars are the absolute worst investment you can make. Not saying its bad to drive a nice car but just make sure it is going to last for a long while.

As soon as you buy a car you start loosing money. Even if you don't drive it the value goes down and, heaven forbid, something major happens(e.g. transmission goes out) and you owe $3,000 to get it fixed but you only owe $2,500 on the car then you are just screwed because you are just out that money. Where as if that happened with a warranty then you would only pay like $100 and be on your way.

Sorry if I sound a little bitter, I just went through that :) take my word for it....IT SUCKS

  6. That many miles in only 4 years probably means a lot of highway miles, which probably aren't as bad on the car.  I've never owned a Chrysler model, so I can't speak on their reliability, but the cars I've owned have generally gotten 120-130,000 before starting to have problems.

  7. transmissiion will go in the next 20,000 miles !   ...but don't worry-that will only cost $2,500

  8. The 1993/1994 Japanese cars already have engine and transmission easily last over 150k miles. I guess US cars have at least reached that level at 2004. My uncle's 2002 chrysler, I haven't heard any problem with it even check engine light was ON for over a year. The performance of the car is a little worse than my 1993 Infiniti. But the price of this used car is usually GREAT. If you can buy it cheap, I think u should go ahead.
