  1. what's the quality of the diamond?  10k gold is about as low as you can get in terms of cost.  14k is the average.  Honestly though nobody looking at the ring can tell what your gold is and as an artist i know many women who prefer the "lower quality" gold because it is more durable than something like 18k which is very soft.

Ultimately though it's a pretty easy question.  Do you like set, is it in your budget, and does it fit your lifestyle?  If so then enjoy it!  You are the one wearing it for life....not the catty people around you.

  2. Gosh no.

  3. not cheap at all!  .8 is actually quite large. the average size of an engagment ring is .5 of a carat.

  4. If you're in love, you could use a ring out of a vending machine for all it matters.  You can always upgrade later.

  5. nope not at all thats actually really good...

  6. Sounds like the carat weight is plenty but if it is a multi stone ring might have a pretty small center stone, also the fact that it is in 10kt gold worries me that the stones are not very nice, most nice jewelry with diamonds in it is at least 14kt gold. Here are a few nice quality rings that are reasonable, make sure the diamonds in the ring is at least and Si2 or better in clarity and an I or better in color.

  7. Get what you can afford and what you like within that price range. I'd never advise someone to go into debt over a stone and metal. jmho Congrats!

  8. If that is what you can afford now, then no it's not too cheap.  You can always trade up to a bigger nicer ring on a future anniversary.  The ring is not important.  What is important is the commitment you are making to each other.

  9. That sounds like a big diamond to me...its almost a full carat.  Besides, there's no "too cheap"...you get whatever the two of you decide on and he can afford without emptying his life savings or going into debt.
